35 Amazing Diwali Recipes

Diwali or Deepavali is one of the most popular festivals in India. Deepavali is a festival of lights. This is an auspicious festival for the Hindu community but in India, everybody loves to celebrate this festival with equal enthusiasm.

It has some religious stories linked to this. This is a day of celebration of Lord Ram's victory over Ravan. Another story says Lord Krishna has destroyed another devil Narakasura. So people celebrate the victory of good over bad, the victory of light over darkness. Also these days we worship Lord Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi for their blessings. So moreover this is a festival of prosperity and hope.

So I wish all my lovely readers a very very happy, prosperous, and safe Diwali. Play safe and enjoy every single day.

Diwali falls on the new moon day of Kartik month of the Hindu calendar. This year it's on the 12th of November 2023. This festival is generally celebrated for 5 days starting from the 13th day of the dark half of the lunar month. 1st day is Dhanteras (13th), 2nd day is Narak Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali (14th), 3rd day is Laxmi Puja & Deepavali (15th new moon day), 4th day is Govardhan Pooja, 5th day is Bhai Duj.

Again there are regional differences in stories associated with the festival and every region has its way of celebrating the Diwali festival

People celebrate this festival by decorating, lighting their houses, distributing sweets as a token of love to their loved ones, and lighting fireworks (crackers: which I don't like).
